Costume Jewellery

Costume jewellery has always been popular as a cheaper alternative to ‘real’ stones. Many pieces are extremely intricate and well made; especially the examples from the 1940s and 50s, and the older signed pieces can command a high price. However there is a wealth of fine pieces at affordable prices to be had, which are generally more unusual and more robust than many of the mass-produced pieces on the market today. 	CJ01 Great red hound brooch with black collar. Done in red plastic this wonderful pin measures approximately 10cms tall by 6cms at its widest. It fastens with a roll over safety catch. £28.00
CJ02 Really cute three terriers brooch done in silver tone metal. This brooch is quite light, so ideal to go on any fabric. Beautiful detail on the dogs themselves and great for a lapel or jacket. Measures approximately 6.5cms wide by 3cms deep and fastens with a roll over safety catch. £22.00
	CJ03 Fantastic vintage corsage. Looks like poured glass but I think that it is some kind of Lucite. All done in gold colour and wired together, and then onto the pin. Great for a wedding or to attach to a tiara or come for the big day. Really pretty and delicate. It fastens with a vintage pin and claw fastening. Measures approximately 8cms long. £18.00
CJ04 Fabulous diamante dangle brooch that can also be worn as a pendant as it has a bale at the back. It is done in fabulous blue and green diamante with a gorgeous large pear shaped facet cut drop. Very difficult to photograph but very pretty with lots of sparkle. It fastens with a roll over safety catch, measures approximately 5cms tall and is looking for a good home. £17.00
	CJ05 Pretty vintage, signed CORO, jade green thermo set necklace dating to the late 1940s or early 1950s. Rounds of pearly jade green thermo set plastic are interspersed with gold tone swirls around the front and the back has an extender chain so that the length of the necklace can be adjusted. It fastens with a hook fastener and measures approximately 17 inches to the end of the extender chain. The signature is on the fastener and the green is slightly darker than it has come out in the photo. This is just stunning! £26.00
CJ06 Great design from JJ. JJ is the registered trademark of Jonette Jewelry Co. located in East Providence, RI. The company was founded in 1935 and stopped production in the early 2000s. They are noted for their whimsical jewellery. This one is of a fantasy castle and has the castle perched on top a very precarious looking rock. Nice detail on the towers with an aurora borealis crystal on top of one and some deep violet iridescent paint down the rock edges (which doesn't show up too well) to add some colour. It is done in a matt silver tone and measures approximately 9.25cms tall. A fabulous design that would go well with any outfit and especially on a lapel. Signed 'JJ'. £20.00.
	CJ07 Absolutely stunning Egyptian Revival necklace done in the unusual colour combination of turquoise and dark green. The central turquoise stone has an Egyptian head on it which stands proud of the background and has been coloured with green and brown. The necklace is done on Chrome coloured metal. It measures approximately 19inches long with a 3.25inch drop. £98.00
CJ08 Cute little shell cat brooch. Done in the same kind of shell used for lamp shades he is goldy ginger in colour and is hugging a red ball. Fastening with a hook catch it measures approximately 7.5cms at its widest and is very light so can be worn on a tee shirt. £12.00
	CJ09 Stunning orange and gold coloured flower brooch. The orange is enamelled over the gold coloured metal background and it fastens with a roll over safety catch. Great for the summer it measures approximately 6cms in diameter. £18.00
CJ10 Stunning green scarab beetle brooch. It's wings are done in shaded emerald green iridescence, which I assume is enamel, as is its head and it has a band of clear diamante stones around its neck all on a gold tone background. Very attractive colouring and shading which catches the light beautifully. Fastening with a roll over safety catch it measures approximately 5cms long. £18.00
	CJ11 Gorgeous vibrant reverse carved brooch dating to the 1940s. It is frilly edged with a faceted frame and has lovely multi coloured flowers in the centre with their leaves all in a gold coloured lattice vase. It fastens with a roll over safety catch and measures approximately 4.5cms in diameter. Absolutely stunning colours and condition. £20.00
CJ12 Very pretty and delicate blue crystal art deco necklace. Pretty spacers between the square stones and done on chrome coloured metal. Dating from around the 1930s the necklace measures approximately 17inches in length. £24.00
	CJ13 Great thistle end kilt pin which could also be used for a plaid or shawl. I also have one with a deep purple stone (email if you would like a picture) The pin, which measures approximately 9.75cms long, fastens with a secure hook type catch. £15.00
CJ14 Lovely marcasite and enamel galleon brooch. Very pretty peachy yellow colour to the enamel sails which are billowing out in the wind. In good condition it measures approximately 4.75cms long and fastens with a roll over safety catch. £16.00
	CJ15 Unusual black hand brooch. It has lovely contrasting red fingernails, and a matching red and clear diamante ring and bracelet. A really stunning design, which is not too heavy and is very stylish. It measures approximately 9.5cms long and fastens with a roll over safety catch. £30.00
CJ16 Adorable little diamante rabbit brooch. With her cerise diamante jacket and little pink bow she is the height of fashion. Done in diamante and enamel on a gold tone background she just needs someone to love her!! Measuring around 5cms long she fastens with a roll over safety catch. £20.00

	CJ19 Great set for spring or summer. Thermo set and gilt coloured necklace in a lovely scroll work setting with and extender chain so that the length of the necklace can be adjusted. 	CJ21 Few can beat the quality and workmanship of STANLEY HAGLER (protégé of Miriam Haskell). Wonderful beadwork, with glass flowers and diamante stones all done on a tooled and shaped gold tone metal base. The back is all finished in filigree work. RARE and unusual his work is becoming increasingly difficult to find nowadays. CJ22 Stunning Egyptian revival brooch done in multi sized sphinx heads the lower two of which dangle and end with a sort of round coin shape. It is done in hollow chrome coloured metal and hangs freely although of course it would not lie flat on the scanner. It fasten with a vintage hook catch and has a drop of approximately 9cms.
